In this letter, I would like to recommend Sam Chakraborty as an excellent landlord for the McMaster University area. I have lived at 3 Dalewood Cr for the past two and a half years in a women's group of 7 McMaster Students.
In that time I have interacted with Sam on many occasions and have come to greatly appreciate his integrity, professionalism, his dedication to the students living in his houses, his attention to detail, his straightforward approach and his unwavering reliability.
Sam lays out his expectations very clearly and in simple terms. As a tenant at 3 Dalewood Cr, it made it very convenient to fully understand the role Sam would play as a landlord and what was expected of me. I am glad to say that in my time here I have never been negatively surprised by anything Sam has done. The terms of the lease were discussed very explicitly and in detail at the beginning of the lease.
In addition to this, Sam very diligently keeps open lines of communication between himself and his tenants. He sends notice via e-mail well in advance about upcoming events - house inspections or renovations or any visits. He is also easily reached by both e-mail and by phone (in emergencies, and always responds in less than 24 hours.
Sam has thoroughly impressed me by his dedication to maintaining 3 Dalewood Crescent so that it remains a great & safe place to live in. In addition to the regular upkeep of the house, Sam has made significant upgrades to the house including but not limited to redoing the porch, renovating all bathrooms, and replacing all appliances in the house. He is always considerate of the people living in the house and times these projects to be as uninvasive as possible. He is very receptive to our requests and suggestions and incorporates them into his plans.
Sam ensures that he fixes anything that does not work to our needs as soon as possible. Recently, the oven in the kitchen stopped heating up adequately. I called Sam that night to let him know about it. He arrived at the house the next morning and had it fixed right away. This is the typical response to all the concerns we have brought to Sam. We have never had to ask more than one time to get our needs met, and be done so in fulfilling manner.
Sam also takes an active interest in the role we as a student house play in the neighbourhood. He keeps us updated on local bylaws and regulations that may impact us. If ever we are impacted by events in the neighbourhood, he is always ready to advocate for us and advise us on what to do. For example, when a large tree branch from the street fell into our yard, Sam was immediately there to oversee the city's removal of the branch & repair the destroyed fence, and to ensure that all safety precautions were taken to prevent further risk to us.
I regard Sam's willingness to mediate for us as an integral aspect of our being well-accepted in the community. This makes being a student living in the local community, much more pleasant and non-confrontational.
I can confidently recommend Sam to anyone interested in renting great homes, due to his continued professional & financial investment in his houses and in the students living in them that I have seen thus far. Regardless of where he is or what he is doing, Sam ensures that our concerns are cheerfully, fully, and promptly alleviated.
It has been surprisingly easy to write this letter due to how well Sam has handled our interactions in the past years. I am sure that my opinions are shared by the many people Sam has leased his houses out to, and will be echoed by anyone who does enter into a future lease with him.
